High-resolution approval support
Approval files uploaded to CoZone are rendered in the CoZone server environment. For a good balance of viewing quality and detail on one side and rendering performance and overall system load on the other side, rendered images were down-sampled to a maximum of 3,500 pixels width or length.
This setup enabled a very good viewing experience for the vast majority of approvals. For example, the 3,500-pixel size allowed excellent quality review of A4-size documents, showed very good results up to A2 (150 dpi) formats and, depending on the level of content detail, provided sufficient resolution for A1 or even A0 (75 dpi) approvals.
However, there has been a growing customer demand to review extremely large size formats such as banners of several meters in length, or poster-size artwork with fine print items for which the rendering resolution was sometimes insufficient.
CoZone 2.2 supports these use cases with a dual approach:
Increased general size limit
We doubled the general maximum rendering target size from 3,500 to 7,000 pixels, significantly extending the resolution details for larger formats.
Ultra-high-resolution (UHR) on demand
For cases where review and approval hinges on zooming in to and inspecting the finest details, ProofStudio now offers a new UHR (ultra-high-resolution) request button. The UHR button is only shown if the resolution of the approval file exceeds the 7000-pixels size limit and therefore had been down-sampled. When clicked, the approval will be persistently re-rendered on the server with length or width up to 15,000 pixels.
