Storage conditions for GMG Media
To guarantee the quality of GMG Media please store it in its original packaging in an air-conditioned room with 68 to 77 °F (20 to 25 °C) temperature and 50 to 55 % relative humidity. Avoid direct sunlight and dampness. Providing that GMG Media is stored like recommended, it is suitable for storage up to two years.
When GMG Media is stored deviant the recommendations (e.g. alternating climate conditions) the quality of GMG Media is not guaranteed and storage durability will be reduced.
Handling of GMG Media
When GMG Media is being unpacked and loaded into printer it should be touched exclusively on outer edges to avoid fingerprints and soiling on printing areas. GMG recommends wearing gloves while using the Media. Handle GMG Media carefully to prevent crinkles and angles.
If the Media is not used any longer it should be repacked in its original packaging and stored under the recommended storage conditions.
Safety of GMG Media
Information on the safety of GMG Media can be looked up in the GMG Safety Data Sheet.
Storage conditions for GMG Proofs
Printed GMG Media (Proofs) should be stored or archived dark locations (e.g. envelope folders, cases or drawers) because illumination can result in a shift of color values. The recommended storage conditions for GMG Media are effective for GMG Proofs as well (68 to 77 °F (20 to 25 °C) temperature, 50 to 55 % relative humidity and no direct incident solar radiation).
Exact statements for storage durability of GMG Proofs cannot be done, because multiple different effects occurring during handling process, over which GMG has no influence, can alter Proofs.
Handling of GMG Proofs
GMG Proofs should not be touched on printed areas without gloves. Fingerprints on color patches can adulterate measurement results. Protect the Proof from scratches (they can deliver wrong measurement results too).
To prevent the printed surface from damages do not store two Proofs face to face. For optimal protection separate two Proofs by a protection sheet.
If a Proof is being handled in a solvent-based or ozoniferous atmosphere (which can happen e.g. close to flexoprinting or rotogravure printing environment) or if it has to be stored in close proximity to sleeves or plates, it risks damages. The chemicals in such area can potentially react with either the substrate or the inks on a proof. In such an environment please store the Proof air tight.
